Component Video, S-Video, Composite Video are all supported, with the Plasma Enhancer providing full digital processing and scaling. Signals can be output as RGBHV, YPbPr (Component Video) or DVI-D digital video.

Video Processing:
At the heart of the PE1000 Plasma Enhancer are Genesis Microchip's Emmy award winning DCDi™ and TrueLife® technologies, providing impressive de-interlacing and image detail processing for outstanding picture quality.

Genesis DCDi™
Video material is analysed at the single pixel level to detect the presence or absence of angled lines and edges. Once analysed, the video signal is then processed to produce a smooth and natural looking image without visible artefacts or ‘jaggies’. DCDi™ eliminates jagged edges normally seen on angled lines in motion video, creating smooth and natural looking images.

TrueLife™
TrueLife™ enhancement uses sophisticated methods to enhance the small details and colours in images, and improve depth perception by sharpening large edges without introducing visual artefacts or distortion. The PE1000 provides eight individually adjustable TrueLife™ parameters for even greater precision. The result is a richer, more pleasing, high definition-like image.

The PE1000 is also equipped with the new Philips 5th generation high quality Nicam Stereo TV Tuner, providing crystal clear analogue TV reception quality.
