Audio Pro is a Swedish audio company with a history punctuated by technical innovation and outstanding design. Audio Pro’s founding in 1978 was marked by a subwoofer design by a young electronics engineer called Karl-Erik Stahl. His product, the B2.50 caught the imagination of the world’s audiophile community by featuring built-in amplification and active crossover electronics. It incorporated the patented ‘ACE-Bass’ (Amplifier Controlled Euphonic Bass) circuit, created to optimise the reproduction of low frequencies from small enclosures. The B2.50 used dual subwoofer speakers, actively monitored by electronic servos to squeeze maximum bass from the drivers. Its success was followed by the TA.150, a remote-controlled receiver, which was one of the first audio products ever to use a microprocessor. In 1979 the TA.150 received the prize for "the most innovative product - both engineering and design" at the CES-show in Chicago. Another CES award winner, the A4.14 loudspeaker, lauded for its extremely low colouration and flat frequency response, confirmed Audio Pro’s reputation for advanced design. |
